Version 4

Note: for some inventories, the code will try to read all possible sectors, although they are not available for every species, every year. So the code loops and try to look for a file and a category. Sometimes it does not find the file or the category. You then get WARNING messages in the log file, which is normal.

Isoprene

 - sources: AR5 or GFED3 or RETRO (for BMB), MACC (for NAT)
 - vertically distributed according to source sector
 - daily cycle applied to NATURAL sector

CO, NOx, NMVOC, NH3, SOx

 - sources: AR5 or GFED3 or RETRO (for BMB), MACC (for NAT), EDGAR4 or AR5 (for ANTH)
 - vertically distributed according to source sector
 - daily cycle in the tropics for biomass burning, except for NOx (see feature request #41)

CH4

There are two cases for methane, depending if with_ch4_emis cpp flag is used or not. It is recommended to use that flag.

 - if you use emissions (i.e. with_ch4_emis):
   - source: AR5 or GFED3 or RETRO (for BMB), EDGAR4 or AR5 (for ANTH), and LPJ and HYMN(for NAT)
   - vertically distributed according to sector + daily cycle in the tropics
     for BMB
   - if none of the providers is switched on, then nudging is done as if there was any : better not to use with_ch4_emis

 - fixed surface concentrations (zch4): either single value (emis_ch4_single=.true.) or a meridional field:
   - always read zch4 (zonal, surface) field:
     - if emis_ch4_single is True: read single value
     - else : read surface_ch4_zm_YYYY.nc
     - TODO : enforce emis_ch4_single if YYYY out-of-bound ? now crashes if out
 - with or without emiss, nudging to observations is done

DMS

 - Ocean source: online (Liss and Merlivat, 1986); Land source: Spiro et al. (1992)
 - vertically distributed as "surface" type, i.e. in first layer

POM (M7 only)

 - source : use OC from AR5 and MACC, then oc2pom conversion is applied
   - vertically distributed according to sector
 - SOA from AeroCom (Dentener et al., 2006)
   - vertically distributed as "nearsurface"

BC (M7 only)

 - sources: AR5(anth+bmb), MACC(nat)
 - vertically distributed as "nearsurface" type

Sea Salt (M7 only)

Calculate emitted numbers and mass as function of the ten-meter wind speed as described in Vignati et al. (2010) and Gong (2003). Sea salt is emitted in both the soluble accumulation mode and the soluble coarse mode. Emissions are vertically distributed as "surface" type.

   - or online (Tegen et al., 2002)
   - AeroCom (Dentener et al., 2006)
 - switch with emis_input_dust key in chem.input.rc file
 - vertically distributed as "nearsurface" type
